Life is a set of problems which fly by very quick.
With or without EElu it always comes down to luck. One day I got 2x +9(1) boots just from 10x boots; the other day I broke around 15 manteaus(1), 10x stone bucklers(1) and got nothing.
Life goes on)))) Thou I strongly agree with you on a subject of pricing.

Valk shoes price will go down in the next patch with tidal shoes giving you +10% HP boost, it would make Valks only vaulable for lower Vit players. I have +9 Superior Valks atm and use them on my 1 vit Biochemist :D
Though on Iris no one camps valkryie and I attained these before the major valk update when I broke 43 valk shoes for the +9's. I still cherish them ;(

Expensive or not, Enriched Elunium still gives you higher chances at upgrading. You just have to decide if it's worth your money.

overupgrading is as old as ragnarok itself, and you actually got lucky... an calculation, very worn out and tested, says that the upgrade chances, from +5~+10 are around 60%/40%/40%/20%/20%/10%.
you getting 86/61/62/20, from +5 to +8 means that the Eelu actually gave you an better than average "scores"... whithout them you would probably not even get a chance to try the last shoe from +8 to +9... =(
altough, +9 superior valk would be nice xD

Well, you were close to your goal - EElu upgrade calc says that you need 22 valk shoes, 87 elu and 59 Eelu. But, yet again – it all comes to luck.

Considering how close you got to making what would pretty much by the best overall footgear in the game, i dont think that's too bad. Yes, it sucks to spend that much and get nothing, but thats how it goes down with the overupgrading mechanic in general.
Getting 1/15 to +8 is fairly good... What it really comes down to is that getting a +9 of anything in RO is really hard, with or without enriched elu. Enriched elu helps your odds, but it's by no means a garrante (sp? Cant spell that even to where spellchecker can correct it x_x), and it doesnt change the fact that overupgrading in RO is the fastest way to screw your finances over in RO if you dont have good luck.
If theres a problem here, its the rates on overugrading in general, not the enriched elu, in my opinion. Look to your own post in the thread on upgrade rates. Using that set of rates, you had about a 50:50 chance of getting a +9 with that many valk shoes using enriched elu. You got close, but lost the last die roll.
What i think the problem is, is the base rates of overupgrading, if indeed the set of rates you posited for the non-enriched upgrading reflects the rates in game, not the benefit that enriched elu gives. The non-enriched elu rates, by the way, reflect my experience with overupgrading.

Well you can't really expect the enriched elu to give you a 100% chance to upgrade, though it is slightly better than the common elu.
