I finally regained access to my other accounts now that my checks cleared with the bank, so I decided on a whim to do the sign quest on the LK.
I actually quite enjoy the sign quest. Its long, it can be annoying at times, but its one of the few quests that feels like a real story is being told.
RO isn't going to win any awards for good literature, but the Sign quest is start to finish, an epic quest. It tells a decent story based on norse mythology, and your choices and options throughout the tale affect the outcome you recieve. The characters that partake are not overly three dimensional, but the motives that drive them are also interesting. By the time you finally get to the confrontation with Serin, you feel like you actually have something to stand up for.
And of course, I get a sexy accessory from the whole thing.
I decided to try out Doppelganger a bit earlier when my LK account was dead. He hasn't changed much, atleast not at full HP. His spiral pierce hurts, but what really hurts is his power up. He changes from a weak little swordie into a massive steamroller of sodomy. The bad kind of sodomy.
I did get him, although let me tell you it wasn't easy. Its not really worth doing on a biochemist... the vit nerf really messes things up. However, it was fun, so thats ok. I might try him on my LK later if I can bring myself to buy some assumptio scrolls.
Speaking of scrolls, the new dungeon teleportation scroll is crazy. It does feel a little p-server ish, but if you're willing to spend that 5 cents, you can get to the lower levels of most open-access dungeons in the game. Its usefulness cannot be overstated, I'll have to watch out that I don't use too many of them.
I took a little bit of time to check out osiris as well. His meteor assault is strong, and his power-up makes it one shot me. Luckly his power up has a pretty high delay, and you can wait it out if you need to. I don't think it would be possible to do it without assumptio though. I would kill osiris more often but one big issue I find with a good number of MVPs is that I can't hit them once they agi up. I whipped out my Gungnir to finish off osiris but its still troublesome to do.
I found 3 atroce spawns later this evening. Since alpha people generally suck when it comes to MVP'ing, I had to again try at it solo. I must be particularly crazy to try to kill him using just Lord Knight, but overall it went pretty good. Once he uses two-hand quicken you have to ream that white pot key as fast as physically possible, and sometimes it still seems as though it might not be enough. I think with a bit more armor defence I could get pretty efficient at killing him. I took down all three atroce with only one death. Not so bad.
And what would a journal entry be without our favorite little queen bee? I used my last three bombs killing her today, so I suppose I'll have to go on haitus until I can afford to get more to hunt her.
This feels like its a daily event isn't it? I never get tired of trying to open these things.
Deathword... not particularly useful, but its more interesting than the past bunch I've been getting.
Bonus for the day:
Too bad it wasn't that Teddy Bear card I was looking for!
A pretty uneventful day. Did some mvp hunting, and got mistress and phreeoni some. Got an OCA again from Mistress.
**drum roll**
I should have learned last time.
I did some bio3 on my LK a bit with some guildies. I wouldn't really call it leveling, because leveling would require us to probably have a HP in our party with assumptio. Net exp: -2%. I didn't get any shots of that, but you can imagine it as 30 minutes of us being chased down by SD sinx's.
I did get a bit bored so I decided to hit Geffenia f or some rare hunting. Between the AK's, Incubus, Succubus, Bloody Knight, and the hordes of magic swords, there's some good rares to be had.
Damn I own.
Or maybe not!
So after last night's (technically today's) fun time with bapho, I decided I should go back and get him. I moved my characters into position, a sort of make-shift bapho battle squad.
Now normally I do about 7k pierce damage against bapho. Getting him to shoot earthquake at no one isn't exactly that hard, so I usually get a free 30 seconds to throw damage at him on my LK. On average I probably do 60k-100k damage before I have to dodge back into the portal to avoid the next earthquake and rebuff. Yesterday took about 20 minutes to take him down.
Unfortunately something was very wrong today, because at about the hour mark I realized he had not yet gone into power up. It turns out he was healing because some random people kept provoking him and going near him while I regenned.
Upset that I couldn't kill him, I decided to bring out the big DPS, my biochemist. The biochemist is pretty pricy and with the nerf the bombs only do about 22k damage, but I figured baphos at low HP, and I wanted to get it done with quickly.
Unfortunately I ran the same issue with my biochemist that I ran into on the LK. He just heals too damn fast to leave combat for any length of time. I used almost 60 bombs to kill him. Lets get that in a big, bold font.
Isn't that flashy. 60 bombs should have been enough to kill two bapho's from full HP, but instead it was barely enough to kill a half dead bapho. I'm so upset over the whole thing.
But lets take a look at the drops.
Holy cow! Lets get a closeup on that.
Wow. I appologize for the terrible formatting I'm putting you through, but this is my journal.
Lets review. 1.98m in bombs, about 551k in whites, for an ori.
So yeah... never again.
So after a pretty quick Mistress MVP run, I had some free time and decided to simply wander around. I ended up at Argiopes, and eventually landed in the Forest Labyrinth.
I decided to stick around leveling my Lif because I had neglected to level her for quite some time. I got 2 of these damn Angelic Protections while I was down there. I don't mind getting rares, but these things take up more space than they're worth.
And there's my level. No MATK bonus, which is a bit of a shame. I hope she gets one before she hits 99.
I did however end up running into my old arch-nemesis, Baphomet. I havn't really played with him much since the patch, other than knowing he hurts, and he hurts badly.
So bombing him proved to be less effective than I had initially anticipated. I can't just let an MVP roam free (what good man would let that happen), so I switched to the heavy artillary.
I decided to gear up my Knight in Bapho-slaying mode, and dragged the support priest down for buffs.
Overall it went pretty well. Hell's Judgement kind of hurts but its not so bad (brandish hurts a lot more). The earthquake was quite annoying though. Its easy enough to portal hop when you see it coming, but it really breaks the rhythm of the fight.
And victory, again, is mine.
